Sola Sobowale is a Nigerian film actress, screenwriter, director and producer who hails from Ondo State.
Described as a Veteran, she has been in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry for over two decades. Her journey to showbiz began when she opted out of College of Education to follow her dreams by going to Ibadan; the then hub of entertainment in Nigeria. This was against the wish of her Father, who envisioned in the classroom as a tutor and so wanted her to be an Academician. She first decided on music and with the help of Tunji Oyelana (Owner of Sight and Sound, Ibadan who later became her Brother-in-Law), enrolled at the University of Ibadan’s Department of Music. She soon found that music did not fulfil her and then she decided on the Thespian art.
She enjoyed a steady rise in her career and perfected her craft by being part of the cast of popular films, stage plays and TV series such as Village Headmaster, Mirror in The Sun and Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again. Her career had a major boost when she featured as “Toyin Tomato” in Super Story’s “Oh Father, Oh Daughter”.
She has scripted many Nigerian films and notably scripted, produced and directed Ohun Oko Somida in 2010. She has major film credits in both Yoruba Language movies and English Language movies. Her role in 2016 The Wedding Party also won her a lot of fans among the younger generation.
