Funke Akindele is a Nigerian actress, scriptwriter and Film Producer. She came to limelight when she featured as ‘Bisi’, a Secondary School Student in the popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sponsored sitcom; I Need To Know which ran from 1998 to 2002. However, her big break came in 2009 when she played the Lead role in a movie, Jenifa that she produced. Jenifa later birthed the popular series ‘Jenifa’s Diary’; which was also produced by her Production company; Scene One. Her role in Jenifa earned her the Best Actress Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Award in 2009. She has featured in many Yoruba Language movies, however, her presence in Nollywood is also felt through her English Language Movies.

Born in In Lagos, she first bagged an Ordinary National Diploma in Mass Communication from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and later got a Law Degree from the University of Lagos. Asides Acting and Film Production, she runs a non-governmental organization known as THE JENIFA FOUNDATION, whose aims and objectives involves nurturing talents and acquiring vocational skills.
Following the massive success and positive reception of her Jenifa’s Diary series, she has set to work to release another one Industreet which will be produced by her production company Scene One Productions.
Funke is married to Nigerian rapper, Abdul Rasheed Bello also known as JJC Skillz who was based in London, United Kingdom.
