Joke Silva is a Nigerian Actress, Film Director and Business Woman. Described as a veteran, she began her film career in the early 1990s after her graduation from the University of Lagos and Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
She had her major breakthrough in 1998 when she starred in the British-Canadian film The Secret Laughter of Women. Since then, she has featured in many films and received numerous awards such as ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ at the 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards and the ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards. She is married to actor Olu Jacobs.

From 2012 to 2015, Joke was a United Nations goodwill ambassador with her role focused on her participation in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.
Joke Silva and her husband own the Lufodo Group which includes Lufodo Productions, Lufodo Consult, Lufodo Distributions and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts. She is the Pioneer Managing Director of Malete Film Village, in association with Kwara State University.
On 29 September 2014, Silva was honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, one of Nigeria’s national awards, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
