Yvonne Okoro is a Ghanaian actress of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent. She is born of a Ghanaian mother and a Nigerian father that hails from Amankalu Alayi in Abia State, Nigeria and was raised in Ghana.
From a young age, she showed a desire to be an actress. Therefore, after finishing from Mfanstiman Girls’ Senior High School, she made her screen debut in Sticking to the Promise, a 2002 movie produced by the Nigerian producer Theo Akatugba. She continued her academic pursuits at University of Ghana, Legon where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English and Linguistics. Thereafter, she was at the University De-Nantes in France to study Press Civilization, Drama and Marketing. While in France, she also featured in a French film ‘ Le Hotelier’.
She returned to Ghana thereafter and went on to feature in many Ghanaian and Nigerian productions winning awards and earning nominations for her acting prowess. She is a recipient of four Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. Some of her other awards include Best Actress at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards and a Distinguished Achievement Award at the 2012 Nigeria Excellence Awards.
